You prep to pitch so you can win the right to host the Olympics. Then if you win the right to host, you prep for 8 years so you can do a great job. There is a lot of prep to host a few weeks of sporting competitions. And then it is all gone but for the memories. So much of life is the same process: idea, pre-prep, prep, brief event and memories. From a holiday, to a job, education or a marriage, a similar pattern plays out.

Wanting A Result And Getting A Result Are Different
You can want to quit smoking, stop drinking, lose weight, eat healthy, be slim, get straight A’s, and make millions. But wanting isn’t doing. And without doing the hard work, with discipline and sacrifice, you are very unlikely to get the results you want. Stop wanting it so badly. Start doing it so badly. As if your life depended on it. Commit! No more reasons, excuses or alibis. Learning this lesson well will let you change your life.
Be The Best
Find something quickly, right now, that you can be good at. Then aim to be the best that you can possibly be at that thing. Learn how to study it. Get disciplined at doing excessive training and practice. Propel yourself to new heights. You may not be the best in the world, but you’ll be the best you can be. That’s all we ask.
Get There Early
Wherever you are going, get there early. From 15 minutes to an hour or two. You’ll feel better, the stress will be less and you won’t miss anything.
Deal Intensity
Getting a deal over the line can be quite exhilarating! The cut and thrust of commerce. Timetables trashed, expectations dashed and a resurrection in the final minutes. The heart is racing and the blood is pumping. All hands on deck to get it over the line!
Big Purchases
A house, a car, long haul flights and an all-inclusive or five star hotel stay can be some of the biggest purchases you’ll make in life.
Note how you feel when you consider the 5, 6 or 7 figure sum for the first time. How does that change once you’ve decided to take the leap and pay the bill? And once it’s been paid? It’s an interesting mental transition.
Get Rich Quick Versus Easy
You can get rich quick but it’s unlikely to be easy. First define what quick means. In an 80 year life, I’d say quick would be 5 years, though you could stretch it to 10.
You also have to define what rich is. So let’s say USD2.0 million. That’s a reasonable sum. If you put that in a dividend stock like IBM and received 5% per year plus some capital gain, you’d have USD100,000 per year income and a growing capital base. This would be more than 3x the average salary of a US worker and they’d never have to lift a finger for it for the rest of their life. For the average person, that would be life-changing and feel rather rich.
Can it be done? Of course it can. You can achieve anything. It is rare but happens 1,000’s of times per year.
Example can be found in tech startups, sports, entertainment, music, finance, sales and small companies. In 5 years, a person can go from 17 and obscure to 22 and minted. It won’t have been easy but it was very quick. Now go make it happen!
Go to bed
Stop scrolling. Stop searching and clicking. Turn off the TV. Go to bed.
Have The Conversation
Sometimes you need to have a conversation but you put it off because it might be uncomfortable. Well if you’ve put it off once or twice, it is probably time to gather your nerves, be calm but be direct and get it over with. Go have the conversation that you know you should.
Take Some Breaks
You probably work hard during the day. Remember to take some breaks throughout. Let your mind relax, meditate, sit down and recharge. It’s quite important to fit in some breaks. You’ll feel better and you’ll perform better.
