Avoid Discomfort At Your Peril.

Having comfy shoes, comfy clothes, and a comfy job can be the ideal life for some people. They may even want comfort foods, their coffee and wine or cigarettes to help mask any discomfort.

But beware: If everything is so comfy you might go to jelly, physically and mentally. Sometimes you need tough stuff to harden you. You will need some discipline and resilience to get through the discomfort. Get yourself a little uncomfortable, for that is the way to get yourself to unstoppable.

Do What You Say

Or don’t say it.

Become a person who surprises rather than disappoints. Give people reasons to trust you will do what you say, when you said you’re going to do it.

Under-promise and over-deliver. Stop doing this the other way around.

Practice Serenity

You will learn a lot of things in life, but make sure this is one of those things. Learn how to do this at a young age and you can use it throughout your life.

It will keep you in better health, both physically and mentally. You will also get more joy out of life if you learn to take the edge off. Learn how to meditate and practice it daily.

Balance In The Universe

People can push one way and then, once they’ve pushed too far, other people push back toward the middle ground.

This happens when the left or the right push past the centre, more than they should. Like a rubber band, the tension increases the further it’s pushed beyond its resting point. Eventually it snaps back or breaks. Neither is a good ending.

This occurs on any discussion. Everyone will be fine if small steps are taken. But if people push too far beyond the comfort zone of the others, you will find a great deal of resistance. And that often leads to momentum in the opposite direction. Keep things sensible. Or you’ll feel the backlash.

Find Your Purpose

Your purpose can change over time. It can be to provide for your family, self-actualise, bring peace to the world, explore and discover, teach or simply move something forward.

Whatever it is, work hard at it! Every day!

Think Like The Other Person

Perhaps it’s the hiring manager, the customer, an army general or the police that you are dealing with and you want to win over, understand or defeat. Try to stop thinking like you and what you want and try thinking like them and what they want.

This is an excellent exercise and helps broaden your mind and develop some insight, and maybe empathy, for other people and what they are trying to achieve.

These insights will help you achieve more.

Complete One Extra Thing

Zipping through your day, you may find you just want to go home and wind down. Stay disciplined and complete just one more thing. It can be something small that you’ve been trying to finish for weeks. You could also tackle that beast of a project you keep delaying on.

Either way, get one extra thing done each day and you’ll start feeling on top of the world.

Could You Do Better?

You probably could do a few things better than you’re doing them now. Do you want to put the extra effort in though? This is the challenge.

Most of us have the ability and runway and even desire to do more or be better. However, we also can feel lazy, uninspired or wonder what the point is and whether it is worth it at all.

Well it is worth it. Focus on building your discipline every day. It will carry you through the tough times, the doubtful moments and the significant challenges like loss of motivation, purpose or faith.

You can do better. Build up to it. You’ll be so glad you did. And may regret it if you don’t.
