Even if your whole world is falling apart, keep smiling. You’ll feel better.
Category: Think About It
Tradeoffs
Life is a series of tradeoffs. There is no perfect. There are pros and cons and weighting of those.
Get comfortable with this highly important concept.
Will You Pay The Price?
Everything has a price. It’s usually in money terms, or in time, emotion, mental, physical or spiritual means. Sometimes it is several of these at the same time.
Regardless, if there is something you want, it probably lies on the other side of that price that you’ll need to pay.
Be careful you don’t pay too big of a price to achieve your goal. Though equally, do not think you can pay too little and still reach your dream.
Assess your goal and then consider what sacrifices and price you’ll end up paying. Consider this well. Then, if acceptable, start paying the price and making the sacrifices so that you can reach your ultimate goal.
Celebrate
Put a marker down that is memorable. Do something unique to you to celebrate a milestone or victory.
It is important to mark occasions and make that day distinct from others so your special moments don’t run together with your regular days.
Get Around The Best People For Your Future
Spend more time with people who are trying to improve. Get yourself around people who are doing well in at least one area.
Reduce the time you spend with people who are not where you want to be or aren’t helping you get there.
Be selective.
It’s tough. But required.
Learn Something New Today
This could be anything. Aim to learn something from history or geography or learn about a skill you’ve wondered about it.
You don’t have to master it or go full deep dive for 3 hours. Simply read a little about it, watch a documentary or even listen to a podcast.
Take 10 minutes today and learn something. It’s a start you can build on. Fuel your interests and develop your world.
Get Clear On Your Thoughts
With clarity you have calm. Clarity can also bring energy and enthusiasm.
A great way to get mental clarity is by writing down your thoughts. By writing, we bring structure and cohesion to all those ideas in our head. We can also review our points and see where our thinking might be out of alignment with what we thought our thinking might be.
Buy a journal or primary school notepad and get writing your thoughts out today. In a week or two, you’ll be noticing the greater clarity of your thoughts.
Eat Better
You may have never thought too much about what you are eating, how much you are eating or when you are eating. And unless you’ve had mouth, throat, stomach or bowel challenges, you may not have really considered what the food and drink you consume is doing to you.
Take this moment to reflect on these points. Consider if what you are eating is fuelling your body in the best possible way. Do certain foods not agree with you? Do they make you gassy, bloated or tired?
Just like you wouldn’t put diesel in a petrol car, consider whether what you are eating is right for your body.
In addition, the amount you put in your petrol tank is important. I’m guessing here, but I assume you have never over-filled your tank such that you had petrol all over the station forecourt. So I would suggest not filling your stomach more than its relaxed capacity.
I find it incredible how few calories one actually needs in today’s move-less society. We think we need three meals a day, probably with pudding for at least one of them. Yet we don’t. The 2,000 calories per day might have been more relevant in agrarian society but most people no longer need this level of daily fuel.
Assess what you eat and drink. Re-evaluate everything food related and make some slight changes from today. Your life will be better for it from today onwards.
Seek Best Outcome – Always
Always aim for the best outcome. This is the best outcome after assessing everything for everyone. You will not likely please everyone. However, maximise for the most people reaching the best outcome.
Commit
Commit to someone or something. You can put yourself first sometimes but commit to something bigger than you.
You will find energy and purpose in doing this.
