Before you go to bed, plan your day ahead. Do it with your big items for the day and block enough time for travel and challenges. If that all goes well, you can use the extra time to do another thing.
Category: Think About It
Work Backward
Pick your desired goal or destination and work backward to uncover what needs to be done and when.
The timelines will seem tighter but that is fine. There will seem like more work to do than you thought but that’s fine. You’ll need to do more than you thought so just get on with it.
Unfinished Projects
Remove all unfinished projects from your life. They wear you down. If you really wanted to do them, you would have.
These were maybe good ideas at one time or a should, out of social belief or guilt, but now you can choose to end the insanity.
Free up space and time in your life. Remove these distractions. Only work on things you are absolutely committed to completing, out of love, duty, passion or necessity. All the rest must be left for someone else in the world to do.
Don’t dilute your energy for meh.
Think, Plan, Execute
Go for a walk or jog and run through the plan you want in your head. Think through the timing and the priorities, including the timeline. Plan out each step in your mind. By doing this preview, you will uncover obstacles you hadn’t thought of and allow enough time for each step.
Then you can execute with pace and precision. See the goal and the path first, then follow it.
Pick One System
Pick one system and use it well. There is no perfect system so stop searching. Just use the one system and accept there will be some drawbacks. However, other systems have drawbacks too.
You could change your system one day, but remember, with each change you may lose good habits for only slightly greater efficiency, if at all.
Find The Opposite
If you want to learn and truly be informed, go find the opposite opinion to yours and listen. Ask questions. Allow yourself to be moved by intellectual arguments if there are reasons to be swayed.
By listening to alternative views you can understand the topic better. Listening and reflecting on only one side leaves you exposed and looking poorly informed, at best.
Vision
Have a vision of your future. Have three if you find it hard to decide. Then make progress on your vision (s) every day.
There Are People Who Love That
Thankfully you don’t have to do everything.
Whatever you don’t enjoy doing, you can find someone who really enjoys it. That’s a wonderful thing. Our accountant makes taxes fun, which is great. Some care workers are definitely in their best career. There are doctors who love doctoring and engineers who love engineering. That is the same for many electricians, farmers and plumbers too.
Thankfully, we all have our skills and passions to make the world go round.
Energy Over Time
People talk about making time, having time, scheduling, etc. But the one thing that may trump time is energy. You may have the energy but not the time, which is one thing. Though, even if you book the time, you may not be able to use it effectively if you don’t have enough energy.
As we age from 20 to 90, each day will have 24 hours and each year 365/6 days. However, most people do not have the energy at 55 that they had at 25. Certainly most won’t have the energy at 80 that they had at 30.
So use your young energy wisely. Do things you want early on in life. Don’t store up high energy activities until later in your years. You may have the time and the money but not the energy. You’ve been warned.
