Death Is Upon Us

We are all going to die one day. This is an easier concept to accept when it is not looming on the horizon or at our front door.

So start getting comfortable with this very natural event or stage in life. All plants go through it. So do all animals, insects, fish, etc.

Make arrangements for this eventuality. Write it down. Get into all the detail.

I remember being in Toronto with my grandparents one time. They would only have been about 60. We were driving along in their car. As we passed a massive cemetary, my Grampa hollered, while pointing at a specific area, “That’s where I’ll be buried. Right there.”

They had made their funeral arrangements, bought the plot, paid for the casket, etc. They were responsible adults. They didn’t wait for their death to thrust havoc and decisions on their children.

Take charge of your affairs. Prepare for a good death. Then go and live it up until that time comes.

When Life Changes

You need to adjust when life changes. If you get a diagnosis, your body changes, or there are external factors, you will need to change the way you do things.

You may have to change your diet, medical interventions, pills, exercise, route to work or your whole life!

Regardless, we are adaptable if we want to be. And we will survive. So start adjusting.

Choices Can Paralyse

When there are too many choices, and you didn’t arrive with a specific one in mind, you can be paralysed with indecision.

Narrow it down quickly to three by selecting your favourites and/or deleting the least liked by you.

Make a list of all the benefits of those that remain. Best one wins!!

Preparation Is Key

Take time in advance to prepare. Great warriors, sports stars, entertainers and students know very well that proper time spent on preparation pays huge dividends in the end.

Sometimes It All Goes Out The Window

Ever been busy? That super, crazy, ridiculous busy? The kind of busy where you get 3-4 hours sleep a night for days and even weeks on end.

Your comms go silent. Things don’t happen. Except, the essentials happen. You focus like a laser and cut through the unnecessary. You cut it out because you have no time for anything except the essentials.

You go dark for awhile. But eventually you emerge from the chaos and begin again. Enjoy it.

Help Your Mom And Dad

Help them when you’re 11 years old. And also help them when you’re 16, 23, 37, 58 and 72, and all other ages.

When you’re young, do the dishes, keep your room tidy, get good grades, and help pack the car. Help carry bags and lift things as well as sell stuff on eBay and fold the laundry well.

You’ll feel better for having done it when you’re older. You made a contribution. You appreciated them. Taking some of their burden can be a very big help. You might not realise how big.

When you’re older, you can fix things around the house, take them to doctors appointments or help declutter papers and things.

Go sort something right now.

Exhaustion

Sometimes we push the limits because we’re enjoying ourselves and sometimes we have overflowing responsibilities. It does happen.

Remember to get rest as soon as you can though. Your health is key.
