Enjoy The Holidays
Take time to wind down. Enjoy time with parents, siblings, children, other family and friends. Relax. Play. Unwind. And be kind.
Sleep Well
And if you don’t, can’t, or won’t, read some things on sleep. Then you can train your brain to get the best sleep every night.
Time Flies
Have you ever noticed how fast time flies? You go out with a friend for an hour at lunch, which seems like a decent amount of time, and walk away thinking it was barely enough to scratch the surface.
I can meet a good friend for four hours and walk away thinking of all the things I forgot to ask and wanted to know. It’s crazy.
It’s a good idea to make a list of all the topics and questions you want to cover beforehand so you’re at least prepared.
What Were You Aiming At?
Did you hit it? Or did you miss? If you can’t tell, it is probably because you didn’t clearly define the target you really wanted. And you may have been vague on what you really needed to do.
‘Grow the business’, is too vague. You would need to say that you would grow it from £800,000 turnover to £2.1 million turnover between January 1st 2026 and December 31st 2026. In addition, you want profit to grow from £80,000 to £250,000 in the same time period.
Profit margin is growing at a faster pace than turnover as we get more sales while being more efficient.
Get clearer about what and when you are aiming for.
The clearer the target ????, the greater the likelihood is that you’ll hit it where you want.
Time Together
Enjoy every minute of it. We must be present and focused as it is a rare delight.
We don’t know how many days we have left on this spinning globe so it’s best we squeeze every ounce of joy out of our moments together.
Enjoy The Passage Of Time
That may be the best description of life’s purpose.
I heard Jimmy Carr say this recently. If that was all you did your whole life, you’d probably be one of the happiest people on the planet.
Timing
A second earlier and that car may have hit you. One minute later and you might have been part of the robbery.
Getting to the event one hour early meant you could speak with the keynote speaker in person. Being born in a western country after 1970 meant you have lived way beyond the experience of 99.9% of all humanity that ever existed on Earth.
Timing. Good timing can be invaluable.
Read
Read books, magazines, cereal boxes, newspapers and maps.
Develop the habit of reading. Learn to enjoy it. Non-fiction or fiction. Take your pick.
Learn things and exercise your brain.
Times Up!
Deadlines are wonderful things. They help to ensure something gets done. However, often we fool ourselves into thinking we have time before we really need to start, or it will be fine, or even the deadline is not a hard deadline.
Try that thinking with life and death.
Should you really leave it all to the last minute? If not, then you better treat everything else the same way. Don’t put it off. Don’t wait for disaster to be right around the corner.
Attack every minor item on your to do list with gusto and get it done now! Otherwise delegate or delete it.
