Time Zones

They are great to regulate time on planet Earth. But when you cross a few of them all at once, it can be hard on your system.

Some people find it easier going East, but most seem to find it easier going West.

Sometimes it’s just the circumstances you find yourself in. Work, packing, playing can all add to the challenges.

I’m feeling it at the moment. The gravitational pull of my bed is strong. Yet morning comes very early.

How do you deal with it?

Travel Fun

Well at least we got here. Nine hours late and not quite to the finish line yet but hopefully we’ll be at our destination with no additional challenges or delays.

Everyone has kept their cool pretty well, and sense of humour, which has been great. And apart from a very hairy landing in 60km/h winds, it’s been rather uneventful.

Take it as it comes if that is all you can do. You’ll get there.

Missing The Moment

Things get missed, mistakes are made, time runs out. The picture isn’t always taken.

Sometimes we miss the moment. Although this can be quite upsetting, given the context, we must carry on. Time waits for no one. Get in front of the very next moment and capture the full essence of it.

Speed Bumps

There will be plenty of these in your life. And not always when you think you can handle them. They will arrive when you may not be expecting them or think you have the capacity to deal with them.

But you will be fine. Keep pressing forward with a determined, wry smile on your face.

Get yourself ahead of the curve. Then when the curve comes, you can deal with it from a position of strength. Good luck!

Stay On Topic

It’s easy to get distracted. There are lots of fun things to do. Plenty of easy things to do as well. Easy and fun are usually more attractive than hard and boring.

Stay on topic and you can rule your world.

Set up your environment to win. Make it easier and more enjoyable. Change your mindset. Be disciplined. Remain consistent. Persevere. Your success will taste so good. It will taste far better than the short term fluff that may have distracted you. Focus.

Mark The Occassion

When you have something significant happen in your life, mark the occasion. This is why so many people have graduation ceremonies, birthday parties, anniversary events, awards ceremonies or simply raise a glass, give a card or reflect back for a moment – for two seconds or two minutes of silence.

When something is important in your life, give it a quick moment, or a full on event, to mark its significance in your mind.

Life moves quickly, so whenever you can, mark the occassion.

Take A Sense Check

A few times a year it is good to take a sense check and see if you are being the best you can be in your different relationships.

Are you being patient enough? Are you giving anyone too much leeway? Have you got the right boundaries in place to protect your values and precious time?

Could you be more grateful for the people in your life and what they do for you? How could you show your appreciation more?

Sometimes it is just a little adjustment in your tone, temper or tempo. It can make a world of difference and set you on a whole new course for your relationship.

It may not be that easy but, with practice and review, you will get better and your life will benefit greatly from this pit stop.

School Sports Days

If your child is having a school sports day, do what you can do to go. And when you are there, cheer on your child. Only positive vibes, praise and encouragement though.

Cheer on their friends too, even if they are on other teams. This isn’t the Olympics and all kids should have some cheering. For most people, it’s not often in life when people openly cheer for you.

Remind your children to thank the teachers, helpers, organisers, refs, coaches, timers, medic, etc. These people all helped to make this great day happen. You could go say a few thank you’s too. Nothing like good role modelling and a display of gratitude to people who deserve it (and probably greatly appreciate the acknowledgment).

Remember good sportsmanship and respect. Have a lot of fun. Watch your children, especially in every event possible. Encourage them and praise them often.

Help any children that aren’t feeling well or seem a little down. Check in on them and help them find their smile. Especially children for whom their parents or carers were unable to attend. Learn their names and then shout their name, support and encourage them and make them feel special and a part of the day.

Despite the protesting from your child or others that they do not want you to cheer, be embarrassing or shout their name, there is a little piece in side of them that is delighted that someone has noticed them.
