What Are You Really Measuring?

When we test or measure something, we must know why we are doing it. We also must know what other factors could be skewing or influencing the result.

Then we must assess the end we are achieving versus the end we may want to be achieving.

Think about this with respect to money, fitness, health and relationships.

Believe. And Act Accordingly.

Let yourself dream about who you are or could become. Imagine your life, body, relationships, finances, holidays, home and pass times exactly how you would dream to have them in the perfect world.

Let your fears and concerns of it not working out simply subside. Summon the feeling you would have if your dreams all turned out true forever. Now use that amazing feeling of relaxation, contentment and confidence to remind you every moment of every day how your life is becoming.

Believe you will get there. Then simply act accordingly.

If you see yourself as an athletic, fit and healthy person, do what one of those people would do. They would probably be disciplined with their food intake (types and amounts), their daily exercise, the amount of water they drink and how much sleep they schedule into their life.

You can be the opposite too. Just do what unathletic, unfit and unhealthy people do. You can achieve this too. Simply build habits and be disciplined around eating poor quality food, and just a little bit more than you should each time. Sit more and move less. Drink small amounts of water and have an erratic and poorly executed sleep regime. You can become as unfit and uninspired as you want to be. It’s success but in a different direction.

Do the above exercise with your money, your relationships and your career and notice how different your life could be in just six months. It would be a world of difference in one little year. And then it could be like that for the next 20 or 50 years of your life.

Gee, why wouldn’t you start working on this today? Right now! Your new amazing life awaits! It’s just one little mindset shift away. Start accepting this new amazing life in your mind every day. And act accordingly.

Allow Time To Heal

Injuries happen. Physical, emotional and even spiritual. Be sure to allow ample time to heal. Life is long enough so don’t short-change yourself on the healing process. Otherwise, you may not heal sufficiently and have to go thorough a very similar thing again.

Learn and apply your knowledge. Get to full strength before setting off again.

Drink More Water

Water is like a miracle drug. It hydrates you so you have the right blood pressure as well as removes toxins. It can lower your blood glucose. It also helps to reduce constipation and keep your skin and internal organs healthy.

It’s also a great tool to help you lose weight or maintain your ideal weight.

However, if you neglect it, after 4 days without water, most people expire.

So treat it with the respect it deserves. Drink up!!

Your Health

The most important asset you have is your health. Be mindful and take care of it. Properly! Avoid cutting corners.

Learn how to sleep like a bear. Be physically active. Develop your resilience skills. Be aware of what you eat and drink. This will have more impact on your quality of life than nearly anything else. It will impact your look, how you feel, your self esteem, a great deal of illnesses you could develop and other mental health issues.

Take it seriously. Get properly aware. Become a disciplined person. Then enjoy it all.

Plan v Wish List v Idea

So you think you have a plan for 2023. What you probably have is a wish list, or simply an idea.

An idea has no emotion and little, if any, detail. It’s more of a statement. Lose 42 pounds. Get a new job. Land people on Mars.

You can then personalise it and add some emotion like excitement, concern, giddiness, fear or trepidation. As the idea moves from an abstract thought to something that may be part of your future, you begin to internalise it and different emotions will start to bubble up to the surface. For example, I would like to lose 42 pounds, get a new job and be part of the team that lands people on Mars.

To improve your chances of success though, you are best to write these ideas down. Make them personal with “I am” type statements and then add some clear, detailed steps and milestones that you’ll need to go through to reach your desired goal.

Making a plan requires more commitment and detail. It takes a bit of time to make. If you don’t have the will to commit to making the plan, it’s unlikely you’ll have the will to overcome the challenges that you’ll find on the path you have chosen to take.

If you do commit, you’ll need dates and times that you’ll actively progress your plan. You can add milestones too. You’ll also need a system to review your progress, including daily tracking of key activities and metrics. Without tracking against a plan, you are likely to drift and then give up.

But that needn’t be your story. Be the top 5% of people. Use your discipline. Feel how good it will be to have reached your goal. Hold that thought.

Now go turn your 2023 ideas into wishes and then make a plan around the most important ones.
