Serendipity Happens

I love serendipity and you should too. That positive things are happening by chance is an incredibly fortunate thing.

Whether you think there is a true serendipity or it’s simply, ‘the more seeds you sow, the more ye shall reap’ doesn’t matter. Even if it were really the idea of, ‘the harder I work the luckier I get’, you should pay attention to serendipity.

Look for it. Recognise it. Acknowledge it. And be grateful for it. Thank the universe each time. Then maybe, like a well appreciated friend, you’ll find the universe coming through for you again and again.

Look Carefully

Look into the details. Learn all you can. Ask clear questions. Require specific details in the answers. Make informed decisions. Don’t get caught out. Trust but verify. Look before you leap. Don’t just assume all will be fine. Get into the weeds on it.

In Search Of Better

I find myself thinking this way quite often. I tend to think of what could be better or how I could make something better. Has this always been my way? I am not sure. But I think it has, at least for somethings.

At school I wanted to get better grades, so I worked at that. In sports I strived to be better than I was, either in skill, stamina or execution. So I trained more, paid closer attention and made refinements.

It has probably become part of my regular thought process. It is exciting to make improvements, either your own, or in ways to help others. In our property business, we look out for houses that could be improved and provide a better home for people.

We also need to remember to celebrate these successes and improvements. Be grateful for them. Be careful you don’t become someone who is never satisfied. But also, don’t stop improving, especially if you are capable of more. Go forward in search of better.

Then What?

These two words can dramatically improve your life. Why? Because most people have trained themselves in short term, one-step thinking. People often do better, in the long term, if they incorporate more ‘several-step’ thinking into their life.

Simply by asking, ‘Then what?’, more often, you will train your brain to consider outcomes beyond the immediate and into the longer term.

This can help in all sorts of areas of your life. Weight loss is one. If I eat this delicious cake, then what? I will need to work out more tomorrow. And it will take more time. Then what? Then I’ll be late for work. So with just a couple of ‘then what’s’, we see undesirable outcomes because of our initial behaviour.

This can be applied to house purchases, holiday planning and career path considerations, to name a few things.

What Is Good Advice?

Usually you know what is right. You just don’t want it to be so.

Often we ask advice from whoever is around. But if you go to someone specifically, it is often because you know they’ll tell you what you want to hear; even if you know it’s what you need to hear.

Enjoy Lounging In Bed

It can feel so nice if it is a rare occurrence. Not having to go anywhere may even be better than the actual lounging.

I’m out of bed between 5am and 7am, 7 days a week. I usually like getting up early as I can go for a run, get some work done and have breakfast with the kids.

But on Sunday morning it was about 10:30am when I finally got out of bed for good. Although I’d been awake from 05:30, I did drop back off a few short times.

It was very nice. No need to rush off somewhere. The house was very quiet. I got some things done on my phone. Thought through some issues. And generally just had a relaxing morning. I even played a few games of solitaire on my phone.

When it happens so rarely, it really is a treat. I hope you can enjoy one like that soon.

I Love Summer Days

Those days you can wear shorts and a T-shirt and feel warm all day and never chilly. The ideal recipe begins from 21C, mostly sunny, 43% humidity and only a 3-6 mph breeze.

This is fabulous weather for me. It can still go warmer. It can go all the way up to the early 30s; especially if there is a lovely swimming option nearby.

Enjoy it every day it’s here!

Keep Your Finances Updated And Tidy

There are many reasons to do this. It’s an investment in you and your personal well-being for starters. Knowing where things are at financially is calming, liberating and allows maximum fun.

If you know your bills are paid, your emergency account is fully funded and your investments are working day and night for you, you will have a greater sense of calm. And it lasts all year. Not just the week or two of calm you get from going on a holiday. Especially if your bills pile up, your admin gets behind and you blow your emergency funds on your, ‘but I needed it!’ trip.

Also, if you were incapacitated or died, could someone step in and know where everything was? Are all the accounts easy to find? Is there an up-to-date will? Are bills on direct debit? Or would someone have to hunt around and figure out what to pay and when?

Do this for you, and your heirs or carers. Start today and have it all sorted by the 15th July (2022!!). Go!

How Much More Could You Be Doing?

If you focused and were excellent with your time, could you be more productive? Could you get more done in a day?

It’s amazing what you can achieve when you don’t get distracted, procrastinate or do only the fun things.

If you seriously want to change your life, put the work in. Stop talking about it. Get it done.

Details Are So Important

I find most arguments occur because the people involved are looking at different details including timing. We can get a lot more done if we listen to the details and understand why those ones are so important to the other person.

Most issues are caused by lack of attention to the fine details. Precision is important with respect to timing, location, topic, attendees, etc.

Generalising can seem quicker but it usually just gets people frustrated. Get down into the details.
