Enjoy Key Milestones

25 years of marriage, a special birthday, completing a marathon or simply getting through another 24 hours without a drink, are all great reasons to celebrate, reflect, pat yourself on the shoulder or be happy within yourself.

When is your next important milestone?

Set Goals With Milestones

I did that this morning and it worked great! I was at a cottage and wanted to kayak to one end of the lake. So I set my goal and estimated time. Then I had some mini goals, or milestones, which I set.

In addition to these, I gave myself some MTO goals. This made it easy to bail out of the Outrageous goal, if I didn’t have the time or energy to succeed with it, but still feel good that I had surpassed my minimum goal or even target goal.

Each milestone I passed gave me more energy to complete the reducing remaining amount. I celebrated each one which kept me positive and determined, despite the intense sun, sore hands and arms and aching bottom.

Despite the headwind and frequent foot high waves, I pushed through and did the whole circuit.

It was a gorgeous, sunny day with fabulous warmth (28C). Blue skies were peppered with occasional clouds, one was even fish shaped.

Celebrate Milestones!

This is my 731st daily post. Today is the 2nd anniversary of my daily blogging. I said I’d do one year and that would be a real accomplishment. Then I developed discipline, a habit and a winning streak and out popped another 365!

I’ve enjoyed writing the posts and I hope many people have enjoyed reading them and got some value from them.

I have 551 draft, or partially drafted, blog posts in my folder. I might use some of those for this 3rd year of blogging. Many were harder to write as they were controversial or required a level of research or nuance in writing them well.

Perhaps this will be the year to let a few of those loose.

I’ve also got a new book written, published and available for pre-order at many online bookstores large and small. Amazon, Waterstones, Barnes&Noble and Chapters/Indigo are a few.

There’s a hardback, paperback and an ebook version at the moment. The official launch date for Achieve Anything is the 23rd January. Look into picking up a copy.

An audiobook version is on the cards but will take more time than I can swing at the moment. It’s something for everyone to look forward to. ?

So I’m delighted with today’s milestone, with the blog, and with having a book available on Amazon.

I look forward to helping more people think better to feel better, open their minds even more and achieve their dreams with 7 simple steps.

Here’s to you in 2022!

Reaching A Milestone

I’m about to hit another milestone. It sure does feel good when that happens. I’m sure you would agree. Reaching a milestone can be quite an exciting, enjoyable or reflective event.

I started my daily blog on the 10th January 2020. My goal was to write and release a blog post every single day for one year. That would include weekends, bank holidays, and yes, even Christmas Day.

This is number 366 so I have realised that goal! I will have written about 81,000 words during this interesting year. I’ve learned many things about writing, posting, social media, people and myself.

12 months of writing every day seemed like a big task. For 366 consecutive days I would need to spend about an hour per day writing, releasing, posting to social media channels, monitoring metrics and interacting with people online. But now, looking back, it seems to have gone so quick and been so simple.

I’ve loved getting feedback on my posts, especially if it has helped people consider a different perspective. Sometimes it seemed to reinforce one they already had, which can be a real positive too.

What milestones are you about to reach? Which ones are you setting for the weeks and months ahead? What will keep you on track and focused?

Reaching a milestone feels great. Good luck and best wishes.

Celebrate Life’s Special Moments

As you get a little older, or at least a little wiser, you realise how important each moment is. Celebrate life’s special moments as often as you can. They come and go so quickly.

My wonderful Mom turned 75 today. You wouldn’t know it. Full of energy and a positive, joyful attitude might make her seem younger than she is. She’s also fit and healthy, so that helps keep her youthful looking too.

Celebrating her birthday was great, despite it being in a Covid friendly, socially distanced way. It was lovely to join her in a conversation over Zoom to celebrate this milestone birthday. Technology is fabulous that way.

In preparing for this grand event, we were able to get some birthday videos sent to us from friends and family. A great little website called VidHug helped us out too. It is better than a card. You get a personalised memory delivered ’in person’. And the video will be easy to keep and find.

What struck me was so many people’s willingness to participate in fun, quirky and lovely ways. It was beautiful to hear their kind comments and the fond memories they had of Mom. It wanted me to make a bigger video with more people. She’s truly a unique and wonderful woman.

Celebrate life’s special moments whenever you can. Don’t wait. It will open your eyes to life’s beauty.

The Half Year Highlights

We need to keep track of our wins and celebrate them. So get out your journal, or any piece of paper, and your pen. The half year highlights need to be listed out.

We are in the midst of Q2 earnings season. This is when companies reveal how they did in the second quarter of the year (April, May, June). Granted, this year has been a little different so far. But the announcements coming out are making interesting reading, especially when comparing to Q1 2020 or Q2 in 2019.

Every quarter, corporations note down their key accomplishments and share them. You should also get into this habit. Though you do not have to share them. However, you should be honest with yourself. It is easy to make excuses, develop reasons and blame circumstances. There is no need to do that. You are better than that.

So if you have your monthly goals list, you can compare against that. If for some reason you did not set out your goals in late 2019, you can simply note down your highlights to date.

Be clear and specific. For example, I can note that I have written this daily blog every day since I started on 10th January (on target). In addition, I have had readers from 50 different countries (well above target). Finally, the family has successfully come through this initial Covid period (on target).

The half year highlights should also be celebrated ?. Presumably you have worked hard and been disciplined to achieve these milestones and make progress on your goals. Even if you weren’t quite on target, you will have sacrificed time and effort to get your results. Celebrate them and work harder and smarter in the next quarter.

Good luck!
