More Than You Think

How many hours of training will it take to become a world class professional? More than you think.

How many hours of studying to get 3 A* grades at A level or college? More than you think.

How many hours to acquire and perfect a skill? More than you think.

Better get started!

Feel But Then Think

We feel first. But do we reflect on those feelings properly and often enough?

We have an ability to understand ourselves better yet few people take the pause to really consider this.

If you feel harshly about someone, what is the real feeling from? Don’t consider why you think you feel that way. Rather, try to understand what it is that is creating the actual feeling for you.

Stop And Think

How often do we actually do this? Often we are racing around from one thing to the next, and we do not take any time to stop and think.

We react to so much in life. We would do ourselves a favour by taking time out for five minutes or five days, to stop and consider things more.

Decide where you want to be in 10 or 20 years, not 10 minutes or 10 months. You will then make better decisions. Be clear. Be determined. Focus. And soldier on.

Think, Plan, Execute

Go for a walk or jog and run through the plan you want in your head. Think through the timing and the priorities, including the timeline. Plan out each step in your mind. By doing this preview, you will uncover obstacles you hadn’t thought of and allow enough time for each step.

Then you can execute with pace and precision. See the goal and the path first, then follow it.

Think And Smile

Think of a great photo of, or moment with, your Mom. Think and smile. Or maybe it is regarding your Dad. It could be with other family members or friends or an event you attended.

Regardless of what it is, find some happy memories and make your mouth, eyes and face smile with the memory. I’m not sure people do this enough. It’s so simple and easy and feels good too. Do it daily. Do it twice a day even.

This is also a great way to get fantastic photos of you. If there is a camera in your midst and someone wants your photo, look straight at it, think of that happy moment and smile. You’ll never have a bad picture of you again.

Think Like The Other Person

Perhaps it’s the hiring manager, the customer, an army general or the police that you are dealing with and you want to win over, understand or defeat. Try to stop thinking like you and what you want and try thinking like them and what they want.

This is an excellent exercise and helps broaden your mind and develop some insight, and maybe empathy, for other people and what they are trying to achieve.

These insights will help you achieve more.

Think Better, Feel Better

This is very true. If you have poor thinking, you’ll have poor experiences in life. You may worry, be negative, get angered easily or have unrealistic expectations.

If you can train your mind to think better, be more positive and balance your emotions, you are very likely to feel better more often.

Give it a try for a week or two.

Think Long Term

What would your Blue Plaque say? How would a biographer tell your story? What would you want on your Wikipedia page? Will your grandchildren retell your story?

Stop and think about your life. Where do you definitely want to go and what do you desperately want to do? What do you want to avoid for sure?

Then set your sail and focus on that direction and that destination.

It’s always best to think long term and where you want to end up. You’ll make different and better decisions. And your journey will align to your long term goals, not just the whims of the moment.
