Find forgiveness. Do it for you, not for anyone else. When you forgive someone, it allows your mind and body to be set free.
A lot of people won’t get this at first. It can take a bit of thinking through and around and reflecting on it. Often people want to simmer in hate or resentment or anger or retribution or revenge. It seems to be the easier emotions to tap into when you feel you’ve been wronged, especially if it feels unfair.
But do you really want to hold that tension and negativity in your heart and your body? It ends up eating away at you, stealing your joy and sometimes even making you unwell. I suggest you release yourself from this self imposed prison.
Some of you may recognise this passage, “as we forgive those that trespass against us.” And, “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.”
It can be pretty difficult to forgive sometimes. But it is often better than 20 years, or a lifetime, of festering resentment.
