Many times we have situations where we try to direct or correct a conversation. Oftentimes we do not need to do that. We can let life flow.
My Dad pointed out a man dressed similar to another man we’d seen earlier and commented on how fast he had gotten ahead of us. I noted that it was not the same man, given they had on very different trousers and this one did not have face tattoos.
This then seemed to escalate just a little with a touch of tension. I immediately sensed this and let life flow. It did not matter if it was the same guy or not. It was immaterial whether he had, or had not, somehow gotten ahead of us (despite the other guy also having got on a bus going in the opposite direction!).
So I let him have his gasp of how incredible this was. And then we moved on to some other topic of discussion. And that little tension that had started appearing, disappeared just as quickly.
The casual observer may not even have noticed the very slight and subtle changes that had taken place in tone, pause, and face or body movements.
For things that really aren’t going to matter much, or at all, or at least will have no significant impact on your life or the lives of others, just let life flow.
Life doesn’t have to go according to your wishes or desired outcome in every moment.
