The 1%
The media and many people spend too much time on the wrong 1%. Focusing on the wealthiest 1% generally breeds jealousy, envy, greed and contempt. Who does that really help?
The 1% we should be focusing on is the 1% that has a criminal element. And that should be the sole metric. If they do criminal activity, you throw the book at them. Only those that consistently demonstrate a desire to reform have the potential for any leniency. Like law and order used to be.
Treat all criminals the same, without exception for race, religion, or nationality and you will reduce social unrest immediately. People want equality under the law for everyone. No special treatment.
The people who are protesting now were simply sitting at home 3 and 10 weeks ago. They were not in the news.
But then the police and media and government seemed to be playing around with a very tragic situation which stirred things up. Stop doing that. These three institutions need to do better: and quickly please.
Finding Time
There is so much you can do. The challenge is fitting it all in. Finding the time to do everything you would like to do is one of the hardest things you’ll do in life.
You’ll need great planning, discipline, sacrifice and patience. You can fit in a lot if you try. Though be careful to keep some balance amongst the big themes in life.
Be Confident And Go After Your Dreams!
Decide to be confident. Remind yourself of all you’ve done in life so far. It’s actually quite a lot.
Focus on some bigger plans and get to work. As you do, your conscience will also grow. In addition, your dreams will get closer to completion too.
Good Manners, Hard Work And A Belief In Your Dream
These three ingredients will carry you a long way in life. Stay focused on these and success is bound to find you.
There are other key elements you can add once you are doing these three items consistently, every day. But until these habits are firm and unwavering, stick with these
Have A Day For You
We do a lot for work, our families, spouse, kids and parents and also friends and community.
However, do you do enough for you?
Get into the habit of taking 1 full day for you every 6 months. It’s essential.
When You’re Tired, Rest
Try not to fight it too much. Go with what your body tells you, and your mind.
You’ll feel very refreshed at the end of it.
Plan Forward
Look a day, week, year and even a decade ahead. Make a plan and follow it.
On Your Merit
Aim to be hired on your merit. Yes, it’s expedient to be hired based on other things, but it will never be as pleasing and will rarely make you proud.
You’ll feel better about yourself if you come second on your merits than first by having some strings pulled.
Ask Better Questions
Better questions will help you reveal powerful truths for a better future. What exactly do I want my life to be like in precisely 5 years time?
Can you be honest with yourself with that question? We often try to trick ourselves and avoid the brutal facts of reality. It is easier in the short run but it all catches up with us in the longer run.
Ask questions but also listen carefully to the answer. The answers will reveal more than the ones you make up or hear about in the news.
