Attracting Versus Demanding

In most instances, attracting people to you, your company or your cause is the ideal way to get people on your side. It feels great to be able to offer something that other people perceive value in. And it’s also great to be naturally attracted to someone or something.

What isn’t ideal is having someone demand your attention, demand your love or demand your participation in something. That rarely feels good.

Have a think about how you involve others in your life and business. Do you offer something so good that others want to be involved or do you demand their attention, affection and participation?

Is it time to double down on your great offer or time to make some changes in your game?

Think And Smile

Think of a great photo of, or moment with, your Mom. Think and smile. Or maybe it is regarding your Dad. It could be with other family members or friends or an event you attended.

Regardless of what it is, find some happy memories and make your mouth, eyes and face smile with the memory. I’m not sure people do this enough. It’s so simple and easy and feels good too. Do it daily. Do it twice a day even.

This is also a great way to get fantastic photos of you. If there is a camera in your midst and someone wants your photo, look straight at it, think of that happy moment and smile. You’ll never have a bad picture of you again.

Detailed Goal Planning

This is not easy. It is simple but not easy. You need to refine your goals and get very clear about what you are aiming for. Then you need a clear timeline and plan to achieve them. The more precision you add now, the higher the probability of hitting your targets!

People Avoid Pain

People tend to avoid pain if they can. Pain can be mental, physical or spiritual. Often we make decisions based on the least amount of pain we will have to endure. That isn’t always the best decision, for others or us. When you know it isn’t the best idea, then change your decision. The added spiritual pain is unnecessary.

Find Or Allocate Time

You can’t “Make” time. You can find time in your schedule and allocate or re-allocate it. Look at your priorities and decide how you want to spend your time.

Many aspects are mutually exclusive, though some aren’t. You can drive while listening to a podcast or an audio book. But you can’t drive while watching a video.

So if you prioritise what is the most important value, and stick with it, you’ll get a lot more of what you want in life.

Start Decent

It’s a new year with new goals and lots of enthusiasm to get going strong to start the year. But maybe strong is too ambitious. Perhaps starting decent is the better angle.

It can be simple like seeing someone come back home from a trip or eating your favourite food at a friends house. Enjoy the simple and low cost things as there are so many of them.

Don’t Go Too Soft On Holiday

It’s a great feeling to have no schedule, commitments or to do’s. One could get used to that fairly quickly. Three or four days of that lifestyle and it could get comfortable and become the norm. Then it could be quite difficult to break out of and you could get stuck in an unproductive loop.

Ways to combat this are to keep holidays short, have some structured days (with activities, events, etc.) or have some inspiring early goals to achieve in the first week you are back.

A Directionless Day

Every once in a while it is good to have a directionless day. A day where nothing is planned and you do what you feel like doing. If most of your days are structured or urgent and pressing, it is nice to have a day to do as you please as the moment arrives.

I wouldn’t fill the day with anything in advance. Do the things that strike you in the moment. Indulge in the pure freedom of the entire day. It’s a very luxurious feeling. Enjoy.
